These projects benefit from the CMAP Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program, which is supported by a three-year, $4.25 million HUD Sustainable Communities grant that funds CMAP staff assistance to help local governments, nonprofits, and other organizations to help implement the GO TO 2040 comprehensive regional plan. |
| December 2011 Bus on Shoulder pilot begins. On November 14, 2011, Pace buses began using sections of the Interstate 55 shoulders to avoid congestion during the morning and evening rush hours. The Bus on Shoulder program is a two-year pilot project that will run on express bus routes from Will County to the city of Chicago.
