While a Bicycle Road Safety Audit (RSA) follows the same principles and eight-step process of a standard RSA, it requires additional understanding of bicyclist safety in the transportation system.   The Federal Highway Administration is offering free training and technical assistance in order to assist public agencies with implementing Bicycle RSAs.  The training provides an overview of the basic principles of bicyclist safety and the potential issues affecting bicyclists. It also offers information on how to perform an RSA and effectively evaluate the safety of bicyclists during the assessment. Technical assistance can be combined with a training workshop to help agencies perform their first Bicycle RSA. Contact Becky Crowe (804-775-3381, or rebecca.crowe@dot.gov) for more information on the Bicycle RSA training and technical assistance program.
