Chicago parents support promoting healthy environments
The Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children (CLOCC), the Child Health Data Lab, and Healthy Places complied a data brief from the 2011-12 Illinois Health Survey for Youth, which examined levels of support among Chicago parents for government involvement in promoting healthy living environments.
According to CLOCC, survey data indicates that over 86 percent of parents would support government involvement in improving streets, sidewalks, and parks for people to be physically active in their own neighborhoods. Over 65 percent of parents indicated a willingness to pay higher taxes to support governmental activity in this arena.
