Transportation for America has published an online tool to introduce placemaking to transportation planners, public works agencies, and local elected officials. The resource includes case studies from around the country, best practices, and tips on measuring success.

The idea leverages transportation projects, arts, and culture to engage the public and create valuable and valued public places, particularly in low-income neighborhoods, communities of color, and among immigrant populations. Effective placemaking can lead to both a better process and a better product by integrating community-inspired art into the design of transportation projects.
