A 2016 version of the report, Foot Traffic Ahead: Ranking Walkable Urbanism in America's Largest Metros, identifies Walkable Urban Places (WalkUPs) in the country's 30 largest metropolitan areas and ranks them by the percentage of office and retail space in the WalkUPs.  The report was produced by LOCUS, a Smart Growth America coalition of national real estate developers and investors, in conjunction with George Washington University's Center for Real Estate & Urban Analysis.  The report is an update of the 2014 version.

The report shares findings which indicate that market share growth in walkable urbanism for income products in all 30 of the largest U.S. metros, as well as positive impacts on social equity, the education of the workforce, and GDP per capita. In addition, research indicates that walkable urban places provide substantial rental premiums on a per square foot basis.
