According to Streetsblog USA, Salt Lake City has completed and opened the country's second (after one in Davis, CA) protected, or "Dutch-style," intersection.  The intersection uses green paint and raised concrete islands to more safely and conveniently accommodate cyclists and pedestrians by making them more visible and reducing turning conflicts.

The article includes a short video, made by the project design consultant, Alta Planning + Design, which shows people using the intersection.  See our earlier post on this innovative intersection design.
