Study on health and environmental benefits of active transportation
New research featured in the American Journal of Public Health highlights the health co-benefits and transportation-related reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Research conducted in the San Francisco Bay Area showed that increased physical activity associated with active transportation could generate a large net improvement in population health, but that, due to increased crash risk, measures would be needed to minimize pedestrian and bicyclist injuries.
