To address anticipated population growth of more than 2 million new residents, the GO TO 2040 comprehensive plan helps the region and its  284 communities address transportation, housing, economic development, open space, the environment, and other quality-of-life issues.  CMAP and its partners are now developing ON TO 2050, a new comprehensive regional plan slated for adoption in October 2018.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is located in Suite 800 of Willis (formerly Sears) Tower, 233 South Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL  60606.  Click here for directions to Willis Tower.

Get Involved and More

CMAP has many ways for people and groups to participate in regional planning.  Residents can visit our main involvement page, and refer high school students to apply for the Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) program.  One good way to get involved is through CMAP committees at the policy, advisory, coordinating, and working levels that play integral roles in the agency's planning processes.
