Second round of Cash for Appliances finished in one day (4-19-10)
The second round of the Illinois Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program, consisting of $6.2 million in available rebate money, finished within 11 hours, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. Consumers who purchased energy star clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, and room air conditioners received a 15 percent point-of-purchase rebate (up to $400). The program, originally scheduled to end April 25, was so popular that all available rebate money was used within a day. Due to the success of the program, Sears, Abt Electronics, Home Depot, and Lowes are offering their own discounts for a few more days in April, according to the Sun-Times.
