Planning Commissioner Training
Using resources developed in conjunction with its partner agencies, CMAP periodically offers training sessions to equip planning commissions and other officials with guidance and structure for making better land use decisions. U.S. Census Bureau Training Webinars
Information from the U.S. Census Bureau can be critical in determining how communities are changing and in justifying funds for transportation, economic development, infrastructure improvements and human services. The amount of data from the Internet though, can be daunting. This training provides easy step-by-step instructions for getting to the data, and trains individuals how to navigate the U.S. Census Bureau website without getting lost. The training is the first in a series of webinars presented periodically to inform users about how to best access and use the data available. For more information contact Jon Hallas at jhallas@cmap.illinois.gov or (312) 386-8764.

GIS Training
CMAP offers a low-cost introductory two day, hands-on workshop focusing on ArcGIS 9x. The workshop uses customized databases designed by CMAP staff which introduces participants to basic GIS vocabulary and project components. Groups are limited to five participants and all receive a workbook and sample CMAP data to practice on at home. To schedule a workshop, please contact Jan Drennan at (312) 386-8686 or jdrennan@cmap.illinois.gov or David Clark at (312) 386-8682 or dcclark@cmap.illinois.gov.
