CMAP uses Census and other data products to prepare forecasts of population and employment for use in regional planning and policy analysis. These forecasts are used primarily for evaluating regional planning and policy scenarios consistent with the recommendations found in GO TO 2040.
Regional Census Data
Important Census products include the 2010 decennial enumeration and the multi-year American Community Survey (ACS). All census data, including 2010 Decennial census data and 2006-2010 ACS data are available exclusively through American FactFinder2 (AFF2).
Census Data Workshops Presented by CMAP
2015 Census Products for Urban Planning (CPUP) workshops take the guesswork out of accessing census data. Our free, hands-on workshops were developed for planners, municipal staff, and municipal volunteers. Every program provides a core understanding of census programs and searches. In addition, March 6 and March 31 workshops feature Local Employment Dynamics/Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics, and May 26 and June 23 workshops touch on Census Transportation Planning Products. Workshops last from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at CMAP offices (233 South Wacker Drive, Suite 800, Chicago. CMAP provides laptops and reference materials.
Email Jon Hallas or phone (312) 386-8764 for more information or to RSVP for workshops.
