John Austin, nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and Director, Great Lakes Economic Initiative, the Brookings Institution will share results from the recent Brookings-Great Lakes Economic Initiative report that describes and puts a dollar value on the diverse economic benefits that flow from stewardship of the unique Great Lakes water system.

Who Should Attend:
This program seeks to gather together not only staff from regional planning organizations that are located within the Lake Michigan basin and watershed groups that plan and implement projects within their watersheds, but also local elected officials and planning or public works staff of municipalities located within the basin as well as other agency planners, policy makers and project implementers on a local or regional level.

The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement and the Implications for Regional Policy with several distinguished presenters is Thursdays’ emphasis. |
This conference is the result of an ongoing multi-year collaboration with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and the USEPA Great Lakes National Program Office with the express purpose of promoting improved implementation of high-priority Lake Michigan Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) goals to advance restoration of impaired beneficial uses in the Lake. This conference will provide information sharing and additional training to facilitate policy development and implementation of the LaMP recommendations within the Lake Michigan Basin.
