Trips in motion by time of day in the CMAP region, 2008.

Most people in the region commute to and from work during the standard "rush hours" from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
School traffic contributes to both the morning peak and an early start to the evening rush hour.
The evening travel peak is larger and longer than the morning peak because people make side trips on their way home from work.
