Algonquin

Update: The planning study was adopted by the Village Board in April 2013.

In 2011, the Village of Algonquin applied for assistance to develop a downtown planning study. This project was in response to the Algonquin Western Bypass, which runs west of IL Rte. 31  and will be completed sometime in 2014. Following the re-direction of regional through-traffic, including heavy trucks, from the downtown district to the Western Bypass, the Village will assume local control of the existing Rte. 31 (Main Street). Local control of Main Street opens opportunities for investment in the downtown and allows the village to pursue a pedestrian-friendly environment that takes advantage of multiple modes of transportation.  For more details about the plan, visit http://www.landvision.com/algonquindowntownplan.
