Dixmoor Planning Priorities Project
UPDATE: A final draft of the Dixmoor Planning Priorities Report is being reviewed by the Village Board of Trustees in February 2015.
The Village of Dixmoor is a tightly knit community with a significant industrial history in south Cook County. Located less than 20 miles from Chicago's Loop, Dixmoor enjoys proximity to the future interchange of Interstates 294 and 57, as well as to other major road and railway facilities. In order to improve its economic vitality and quality of life for its residents, the Village is undergoing a project to prioritize the main issues it should address and to formulate a plan of action.
With support from CMAP's Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program, this planning priorities project will reflect the diverse interests and needs across Dixmoor. Key themes of the resulting report will include infrastructure improvements; residential maintenance and rehabilitation; economic redevelopment; recreation and community development; and efficient governance. Overall, the project should allow the Village to pursue funding sources and future planning endeavors to implement the report's recommendations.
This planning process, which is designed to be completed in approximately nine months, consists of three main phases. The first phase assesses existing conditions in the Village, including stakeholder engagement. During the second phase, initial recommendations will be created and vetted with Village staff and officials. The third phase will include report creation, community feedback, and report adoption.
Key community stakeholders have been engaged through spring 2014. Check back for updates on future opportunities for public participation.
