Fox Lake Planning Priorities Report

Fox Lake Planning Priorities Report

Centrally located in the "Heart of the Chain O'Lakes," the Village of Fox Lake offers its residents and visitors an abundance of natural beauty and unique business opportunities. Its close proximity and access to Chicago, Milwaukee, and Rockford, via major routes and Metra rail makes Fox Lake a major regional and national destination. In order to improve its economic vitality and quality of life for its residents, businesses, and visitors, the Village is undergoing a project to prioritize the main issues it should address and to formulate a plan of action.

With support from CMAP's Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program, this planning priorities report will assess the opportunities, assets, and needs in Fox Lake and help determine what type of planning project would be most important for the Village to undertake next. Key themes of the resulting report will include infrastructure improvements; residential maintenance and rehabilitation; economic redevelopment; recreation and community development; and efficient governance. Overall, the project should allow the Village to pursue funding sources and future planning endeavors to implement the report's recommendations.

This planning process, which is designed to be completed in approximately nine months, consists of three main phases.  The first phase assesses existing conditions in the Village, including stakeholder engagement. During the second phase, initial recommendations will be created and vetted with Village staff and officials.  The third phase will include report creation, community feedback, and report adoption.

Public Engagement

Key community stakeholders will be engaged throughout spring 2015.  Check back for updates on future opportunities for public participation.
