Midlothian 147th Street Corridor Plan

UPDATE: The 147th Street Corridor Plan has been adopted by the Village of Midlothian and is now. available for download.

The Village of Midlothian (located in south Cook County) has partnered with CMAP through the Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program as well as the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) and the Active Transportation Alliance (Active Trans) to envision potential pedestrian and stormwater management improvements at key points along 147th Street between Cicero Avenue and Kedzie Avenue.  This project will include engineering analysis of flooding issues, a Complete Streets on-site demonstration event to show the types of potential improvements, cost estimates for improvements and funding sources to implement recommended improvements.

Public Engagement

CMAP will work with existing neighborhood groups, residents, business owners and other stakeholders to solicit input and feedback on potential pedestrian and stormwater improvements along the corridor.  The project team will execute on-site demonstrations to showcase potential improvements to the pedestrian infrastructure that can also help address stormwater management issues. This may include examples of native plantings, impervious surfaces, cross-sections of improved infrastructure, and other methods of addressing stormwater issues. A demonstration event was held on October 22 in conjunction with Active Transportation Alliance's Complete Streets Policy project to solicit feedback and showcase potential improvements. A second public event will be held in Spring 2017 to solicit public feedback on actual recommended improvements at three key locations along the corridor.
