Functional Classification Workbook  (updated 3/25/10)

An interactive look up map of Functional Class and Federal Aid Route numbers has been developed for reference.  The data is as current as of spring 2011 and is based on the Illinois Roadway Inventory file (IRIS) available to the public on IDOT's website.  This functional class mapping utility is new, so please contact Claire Bozic with any feedback.  

If you are submitting a Functional Classification Revision please be sure to use IDOT's Township Maps  which are now available electronically.  You must submit a copy of the official IDOT 5-Year Functional Class Township Map with your functional class revision request.

If your office has GIS capabilities and you would like to work with the underlying geographic information directly, the Illinois Roadway Inventory System file (IRIS) in GIS format can be downloaded from the Illinois Department of Transportation Technology Transfer Center.
