Chicago Streets for Cycling Plan 2020
The City of Chicago’s Department of Transportation (CDOT) has released the Chicago Streets for Cycling Plan 2020. The plan calls for a 645-mile network of bikeways to be installed by the year 2020, which would provide a cycling facility to be within a half-mile of every Chicagoan. The plan was developed through a community process, and identifies a network of on-street bikeways classified as:
- Neighborhood bike routes
- Crosstown bike routes
- Longer-distance spoke routes.
The plan was released on the same day that CDOT officially opened a new two-way cycle-track on Dearborn through the Loop, from Polk to Kinzie.
