New. Draft 2030 Regional Transportation Plan Update. Release for Public Comment August 22, 2008
The CMAP Transportation Committtee has been asked to release an update of the 2030 Regional Transportation Plan for a 30-day public comment period to begin on August 22, 2008. The update consists of extensions of proposed projects for additional lanes on I-90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) and I-88 (Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway). Additional lanes on I-90, with a minimum 3-lane cross-section in each direction, would extend to the western edge of the region, and beyond to the Rockford area. A short extension of the planned additinal lanes on I-88 would extend a 3-lane cross-section to the Illinois Route 56 interchange east of Sugar Grove. In addition, updates are proposed to reflect changes to transit services and regional planning assumptions to reflect the "Congestion Reduction Demonstration" recently agreed to by the City of Chicago, the Chicago Transit Authority, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
