Regional Response to the Recovery Act
Regional ResponseSince before the stimulus package was called "the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act," CMAP has stated consistently -- first in a set of principles and a subsequent statement -- that our agency's top priority is to add value by working with our partners to ensure that the region gets its appropriate share of the infrastructure funds that would come to Illinois. We are also committed to a process that prioritizes projects to not only create short-term jobs, but one that will also enhance the economic position of  northeastern Illinois.

It is critically important that there be a coordinated, regional effort.
At www.cmap.illinois.gov/recovery/, CMAP maintains a website about the regional response to the ARRA.  Also at the site is a weekly update email that gets sent to stakeholders and any interested parties.  CMAP's goal is to work with its partners and add value by:
  • Cataloging infrastructure-related resources pertaining to the ARRA
  • Identifying best practices from across the U.S. pertaining to the ARRA
  • Promoting the use of consistent criteria to evaluate, select, and report on ARRA-funded projects
  • Making the region's ARRA processes publicly transparent and accountable
