Traffic Projections
For transportation implementing agencies, CMAP develops small-area traffic projections based on our most recent regional travel-demand analysis.
Currently, CMAP travel models use adopted regional 2030 socioeconomic projections and assume implementation of the 2030 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for the Northeastern Illinois area. Traffic projections consider projects as they appear in the current Transportation Improvement Program and Regional Transportation Plan. Traffic projections are provided for the year 2030 and reflect growth patterns associated with the development of a new South Suburban Airport.
To request traffic projections, please submit a letter with supporting information to:
Donald Kopec
Deputy Director of Planning and Programming

The following information should be included with your written request.
- A notation (cc:) showing that the implementing agency sponsoring the study has received a copy of the request and is aware that it has been made. (e.g. IDOT, Lake County, municipality, etc.) The sponsor will receive CMAP's response, and you will receive a copy.
- Location of the project (including a map or diagram).
- Description of existing conditions and proposed improvements.
- Current Average Daily Traffic (ADT) summary at each location for which a projection is requested.
- Description of recent or proposed development that may affect the demand on the facility
Please direct technical questions to Claire Bozic, Senior Analyst for Programming, (312) 386-8744.
Each traffic projection includes a check on whether the project is on an SRA route. If the project is on an SRA Route, we inform the requestor and suggest that they review the recommendations contained therein. CMAP has a relatively complete library of SRA reports, and we have copied the executive summaries from the reports and posted them to our website. To view them, visit the SRA Executive Summary page .
