On January 18, 2007, CMAP issued a news release to launch its Travel Tracker Survey, a comprehensive study of daily activities and travel patterns in the greater Chicago region. The success of the survey relies on the participation of more than 15,000 households from the Chicago area who agree to record details about their travel as they go about their daily activities. Participating households agree to have all members detail their activities and travel for a set period of time. Recorded details include daily activities, the origins and destinations of travel, travel times, modes, etc. Regional decision makers will use the results of this survey to plan needed transportation improvements. These plans will help make wiser decisions about how to efficiently prioritize improvements to our region’s transportation system.
