Case studies library. The City of Blue Island has taken many steps to implement recommendations from its comprehensive plan. Since the plan's adoption in 2012, the City has created a new zoning ordinance, completed an engineering study to evaluate the Division Street bridge, and began talks with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) about converting a one-way arterial into a two-way street. The City also received a grant from The Chicago Community Trust to assist with plan implementation and is hiring a new staff member to focus on related activities. Other completed LTA projects and local examples of plan implementation are featured in the GO TO 2040 case studies library.
