The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) are offering a free webinar on the maintenance of pedestrian facilities on December 6.  The webinar will highlight the new FHWA Guide for Maintaining Pedestrian Facilities for Enhanced Safety, which is scheduled to be released in late November.   This guide relies on research into the maintenance practices of jurisdictions responsible for sidewalks and walkways from around the county.  Webinar participants will learn about approaches, successful and otherwise, to sidewalk and shared use path maintenance in the U.S., including winter and summer maintenance, basics of a well-rounded maintenance program, and barriers to maintaining facilities.

Panelists will provide a local perspective on these issues, including case studies from Minneapolis, MN, and Ithaca, NY.

The webinar will take place Friday, December 6, 2013, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. CT.  The webinar is free but requires advance registration.
