CMAP Meetings.  On Wednesday, November 28, both coordinating committees, Planning and Programming, will meet at 8.00 a.m.   The Board meeting will follow at 9.30 and the Executive Committee will meet immediately following the Board meeting.  All of the agendas and materials are posted on our Committees web pages.

Community engagement RFQ.  CMAP's Community Engagement Assistance Program has just released a request for qualifications (http://www.cmap.illinois.gov/about/rfp.aspx).  We are seeking community-based organizations to conduct outreach activities to supplement CMAP’s Public Engagement Plan for the Regional Comprehensive Plan.  Organizations will be responsible for bringing local stakeholders together to share their ideas and vision for the future of northeastern Illinois. CMAP wants to learn what residents hope the region will look like in 2040. To accomplish this we are looking for community-based groups to help us achieve the following objectives:
  • Collaborate with community-based organizations in our region to extend public outreach and involvement to both the general public as well as to groups that have been traditionally underrepresented (African Americans, Latinos, immigrants, disabled individuals, elderly, youth, lower-income residents and others), in the planning process.
  • Increase participation of community-based groups so that the needs and desires of their constituents are incorporated into the Regional Comprehensive Plan.
  • Identify and address priorities of a broad range of communities in the Regional Comprehensive Plan.

Please share this information with any organizations you think might be interested.  Applications are due on Friday December 7, 2007.

Reminder: Climate Change summit.  Please let your colleagues know about CMAP's next Innovation + Integration summit on December 11, 2007, athe University of Illinois at Chicago.  See http://www.cmap.illinois.gov/climate_summit.aspx for registration and program details of "Creating a Regional Agenda to Address Climate Change," which will feature a mix nationally recognized and local speakers discussing the anticipated effects of climate change and potential responses by metropolitan Chicago.  The $55.00 registration fee includes breakfast and lunch.  For more information, call 312.386.8704 or email summit@cmap.illinois.gov.

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
