Updating the Plan

Transportation stakeholders and residents across northeastern Illinois can influence where and how we invest limited funds for road, transit, and mobility projects in the region. This opportunity to share your priorities only comes around every four years. There are several ways to engage with Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) so your priorities are reflected in the updated plan.

The CMAP Board adopted the ON TO 2050 plan in October 2018.

Since its adoption, northeastern Illinois has been challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to struggle with racial inequity, demographic changes, and the effects of climate change. At the same time, the region has new opportunities to invest in its residents, infrastructure, and communities.

That’s why your input is so valuable!

Conditions in the region change each year, which is why CMAP is required to update parts of the long-range plan every four years. But the update is not complete without you. We want to hear your priorities and thoughts on CMAP's updated analysis.

On this page, you can learn more about the update, and share your comments with CMAP by emailing onto2050@cmap.illinois.gov.
