In response to the State of Illinois' ongoing budget impasse, which has highlighted the need for a more sustainable funding source for the agency, CMAP worked with Reps. Elaine Nekritz, Anna Moeller, and Sen. Daniel Biss to introduce HB6286 and SB2966.  The bills aim to reinstate the statewide Comprehensive Regional Planning Fund, index it to inflation, and appropriate the fund on a continuing basis.  Now under consideration in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly, the legislation has garnered support from Sens. Toi Hutchinson and Tom Cullerton.  Additionally, thanks to the leadership from CMAP's Board members, especially President Rick Reinbold, several stakeholders have pledged support, including the region's seven counties, the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, and the Southwest Conference of Mayors.
