119th Street Corridor Plan

Project Overview

The 119th Street Corridor is located in the City of Chicago's West Pullman Community Area and stretches four blocks north and south of 119th Street from I-57 to Union Avenue.

The vision of the 119th Street Corridor is to attract jobs, industry, and resources to create a vital economic corridor on the Far South Side of Chicago and support the diverse and proud residential neighborhoods in the West Pullman community.

The vision and plan for the corridor were developed through broad community outreach including stakeholder interviews, a community survey, and public meetings, as well as a market analysis and other existing conditions research. The final plan describes goals, objectives recommendations, and implementation actions for seven topic areas: economic development, job training and adult education, transportation, youth and family development, housing, cultural identity and design, and land use.

The 119th Street Corridor Plan was created with support from CMAP's Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program and a project team lead by Teska Associates, Inc., in partnership with the  City of Chicago, 34th Ward Alderman Carrie M. Austin and Far South Community Development Corporation.
