Belmont Cragin Avenues for Growth Plan

Belmont Cragin Avenues for Growth Plan

UPDATE: The Avenues for Growth Plan was completed in August 2019.

About the Project

The Northwest Side Housing Center (NWSHC) and its subsidiary Northwest Side Community Development Corporation (NWCDC), local nonprofit organizations in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood of Chicago, desire to undertake an Avenues for Growth Plan that will promote the Belmont Cragin business community by leveraging its transportation system. The neighborhood’s recently completed 2016 Quality-of-Life Plan recommends pursuing opportunities to improve their commercial corridors in a manner that complements local business growth and job creation. Commercial corridors to be included in the study include Diversey Avenue, Fullerton Avenue, and Grand Avenue. For demographic information on the neighborhood, view the Community Data Snapshot.

Public Engagement

The outreach process will engage community leaders, businesses, residents, and property owners. Working in coordination with the NWSHC and the community at large, the final product will be an action plan for NWSHC, local officials, local businesses, and partner organizations. Please visit the project website at https://www.nwshc.org/avenuesforgrowth to find out more about the project, participate in the planning process online, and learn about upcoming meetings and workshops.
