The Village of Brookfield, a community located in western Cook County, desires a new Comprehensive Plan that provides long range planning guidance for the municipality. The last comprehensive plan was completed in 2004 and was primarily focused on the redevelopment of the community's commercial corridors and nodes, including transit-oriented development near the Village's three Metra stations on the BNSF line. Brookfield is looking for an updated comprehensive plan that not only provides commercial redevelopment strategies, but also addresses transportation, flood mitigation, public health, and neighborhood character issues and opportunities. For demographic information on the Village, view the Community Data Snapshot.
With support from CMAP's Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program, this Comprehensive Plan will consist of five phases to be completed in approximately fourteen months. The first phase will involve an examination of previous planning efforts and an analysis of existing conditions. The second phase will focus on outreach to community stakeholders. The third phase will include consensus-based key recommendations and the creation of a draft plan. The fourth phase will focus on several outreach efforts including an open house and result in the deliverable of the final plan. The final phase will seek Village adoption after final edits are collected through public comment and a Plan Commission meeting.
