Flossmoor Local Road Safety Plan

Flossmoor Local Road Safety Plan

Overview

The Village of Flossmoor worked together with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and other stakeholders to develop a local road safety plan. The Flossmoor Local Road Safety Plan is a review of all the public roads within the community. It contains recommendations for all relevant safety related roadway infrastructure improvements, explaining how these recommendations were developed and why they are important for the future of the community.

The plan covers topics such as roadway safety, equitable enforcement, crash data analysis, and bicycle and pedestrian safety. The plan also identifies opportunities to influence and improve behavior of all roadway users (e.g., motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians).

Public Engagement

The public had several opportunities to participate in the planning process. In partnership with CMAP, Flossmoor officials hosted a series of virtual meetings with residents and community stakeholders to solicit and incorporate community input as part of the planning process.

CMAP created an online engagement website to give the public additional opportunities to share input, give feedback, and track the plan's development. Community members were encouraged to visit the site and participate in the interactive mapping exercise and the survey.
