Region can work together to integrate equity with public transportation

Transit Equity Day, celebrated every year on Rosa Parks' birthday of February 4, is meant to highlight why officials need to support equitable, accessible, and sustainable public transportation. Learn more about how CMAP is incorporating equity into our work and promoting inclusive growth in northeastern Illinois.

 

CMAP Board meets February 10

The CMAP Board meets next on Wednesday, February 10, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom. Find the agenda and link on the meeting materials page. The Coordinating Committee will meet at 8:00 a.m.

 

Celebrating Black History Month

February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans. The Association for the Study of African American Life and History, the "founders" of Black History Month, tells the story of how this celebration came about and its surprising connection to Chicago.

 

Throughout February, CMAP will be celebrating Black History Month on social media. Follow CMAP on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, and lend your voice to the conversation.

A newly updated, seven-county regional reference map from CMAP depicts municipalities, highways, rail transit, waterways, forests, and other important features as of 2017. An earlier version of this map was last prepared by CMAP in 2008.

 

RTA launches updated transportation data website

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) launched a redesigned website to house ridership statistics, interactive maps, and downloadable data from the Chicago Transit Authority, Metra, and Pace. Visit the updated website and learn more about the changes in RTA's blog.

 

MWRD accepting applications to address flooding and drainage problems

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) seeks project applications from local government organizations to address flooding and drainage problems through its voluntary Flood-Prone Property Acquisition Program and Local Stormwater Partnership Program. Applications close Friday, March 12.

The National Civic League's All-America City Award recognizes communities that address local issues through civic engagement, collaboration, inclusiveness, and innovation. Learn more about the award and how to apply.
