CMAP is pleased to announce that registration is open for our free fall 2023 ADA and accessibility trainings! 

The training program covers many aspects of the ADA, with a particular focus on the public right-of-way. It is designed for municipal staff, public works staff, ADA coordinators, elected and appointed officials, community leaders, and anyone interested in learning about how to make their communities more accessible. Participants are welcome to attend one or all of the training workshops. Learn more about CMAP's work improving accessibility in the region.

Module 1: ADA and Title II and the Illinois Accessibility Code

In this module, participants will learn about the ADA, Title II of the ADA, and the roles and responsibilities of municipalities and local government under the act. This fall CMAP is partnering with the Illinois Capital Development Board to provide a two-part program that will also include a training on the Illinois Accessibility Code in the morning session, followed by ADA and Title II training in the afternoon session. 

  • When: Thursday, September 14, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (the morning session will cover the Illinois Accessibility Code and the afternoon session will cover the ADA and Title II; you can register for one or both sessions)

Module 2: ADA coordinator training

This module provides ADA coordinators, as well as other municipal staff, with information about the role and responsibilities of an ADA coordinator. 

  • When: Wednesday, October 11, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Where: Brookfield Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Ave, Brookfield, IL 60513

Module 3: ADA self-evaluation and design standards

This module provides comprehensive and hands-on training about ADA self-evaluations, standards, and the proposed Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG).

  • When: Wednesday, November 8,  9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Where: Arlington Heights Senior Center, 1801 W Central Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005
  • Register for Module 3

 

Module 4: ADA transition plans

This module provides comprehensive and hands-on training to develop and implement an ADA transition plan.

  • When: Thursday, November 9, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

An assortment of breakfast pastries and coffee will be provided to fuel your learning journey.

Please note that the event will be held in-person. No virtual option is available at this time.
