Prosperity with purpose: State of the Region 2021 recap
In a new post, Executive Director Erin Aleman summarizes the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's (CMAP) first-ever State of the Region event and shares insights from our recent public opinion survey.
The survey asked more than 2,000 residents about the successes and challenges they see happening in northeastern Illinois and their attitudes toward critical quality-of-life issues.
Apply for planning assistance during 2022 call for projects
Communities in northeastern Illinois that want to turn their long-term visions into reality can apply now to receive assistance from CMAP and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA).
Both agencies are partnering again on the 2022 call for projects, which opened today. The different programs offered through this call are meant to support communities as they continue to collaborate, innovate, and plan for a more prosperous future post-pandemic.
Together, CMAP and RTA are offering 16 types of assistance that can help communities plan for major capital projects, strengthen transportation connections, and improve the daily lives of their residents. Applications are being accepted through Thursday, October 28.
Traffic is rebounding in northeastern Illinois
Through the first half of 2021, traffic on Illinois roads continued to climb, reaching levels northeastern Illinois normally experienced before the COVID-19 pandemic. But since then, increasing COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant and resulting government restrictions again curbed travel in the region.
CMAP's updated analysis on transportation changes during the pandemic covers the latest data on roads, safety, transit, and freight activity in northeastern Illinois.
