Kouros Mohammadian

Professor, transportation systems; head of the Department of Civil, Materials, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago

Abolfazl (Kouros) Mohammadian is a professor of transportation systems and head of the Department of Civil, Materials, and Environmental Engineering at University of Illinois Chicago, where he has worked since 2003. He received his PhD from University of Toronto in 2002.

Mohammadian’s research covers travel behavior analysis, travel surveys, computational analysis of transportation systems, freight and logistics modeling, and agent-based microsimulation models. He has authored/co-authored more than 370 scholarly publications in scientific journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, and reports. He is the editor in chief of the Journal of Transportation Letters and has served as committee chair of the Traveler Behavior and Values committee of the National Academies’ Transportation Research Board. Mohammadian has received numerous research awards, including the Fred Burggraf Award, and Charley V. Wootan Award, and the Ryuichi Kitamura Award for his contributions to transportation research. He has advised 25 PhD students.
