CMAP Weekly Update, 2-19-21

CMAP state and federal legislative agendas now available

Each legislative session, CMAP develops strategic policy agendas based on recommendations from ON TO 2050, the region’s long-range plan. The CMAP Board recently approved 2021 agendas for state and federal lawmakers. These documents reflect CMAP’s legislative priorities for the region, including local government revenues, the need for vital investments in transportation, and addressing climate change. Learn more about CMAP's legislative and policy statements here.

Join CMAP for an International Women’s Day discussion

Join us on International Women’s Day to discuss how COVID-19 exacerbated economic challenges for the region’s women and how we can address those challenges. Women and women of color are disproportionately vulnerable to job loss and are dropping out of the labor force to manage family responsibilities during the pandemic. Tune in to this roundtable discussion of what an economic recovery means for women and how we can choose to challenge structural inequities to build stability and opportunity for these workers and their families.

Our panelists include U.S. Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (invited), Dr. Helene Gayle (Chicago Community Trust), Karen Freeman-Wilson (Chicago Urban League), and Noreen Sugrue (Latino Policy Forum). Erin Aleman, CMAP executive director will moderate the discussion.

Register for an enlightening and inspirational roundtable on Monday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m.

This CMAP Talks will be recorded and shared on CMAP’s YouTube channel.
