The 19th annual Calumet Heritage Conference will be held on Saturday, October 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lost Marsh Golf Course (1001 129th St., Hammond, IN). The keynote speaker will be Brenda Barrett of the Living Landscape Observer. Panel discussions and breakout sessions will focus on environmental priorities, collaboration between museums and history centers, and the preservation of Calumet cultural heritage. Complete Streets coalition meeting
The Chicagoland Regional Complete Streets Coalition will meet on Thursday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, at CMAP (233 S. Wacker Dr., Suite 800, Chicago). The meeting will focus on "How to Bring Transportation Funding into Your Community," including a panel discussion with representatives from IDOT, CMAP, Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, Active Transportation Alliance, and the private sector. Cook County has released its draft Policy Roadmap for public comment, providing a five-year strategic plan for the County offices under the President. Submit comments now through September 28 via email, through the County's website, or by attending one of six public open houses (open house information also available in Spanish) across the county.
