The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has solicited information and ideas to help it identify proven, market-ready transportation innovations for potential deployment through the fourth round of the Every Day Counts (EDC) initiative in 2017-18.

In the last round, road diets were included as an innovative treatment that can have substantial benefits for pedestrian and bicyclist travel and the current round's RFI includes three "Innovations of Interest' that focus specifically on pedestrian/bicyclist issues, including:

  • Safety Improvements at Uncontrolled Crossing Locations
  • Creating Safe Bicycle Networks
  • Mainstreaming Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Collection

More information on how provide your input and help shape the next EDC Initiative can be found in the Federal Register.
