The Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Minnesota (CTSUMN) -- in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the Minnesota Department of Health, and other state and local agencies -- developed the Minnesota Bicycle and Pedestrian Counting Initiative to improve and coordinate pedestrian and bicycle counting statewide.  In order to provide context and estimate relative rates of injuries or crash risk, MnDOT obtained counts at various locations which will help the agency prioritize locations for intervention, choose effective countermeasures, and improve safety outcomes.  The initiative will allow MnDOT to provide guidance and tools so that all jurisdictions in the state are counting non-motorized traffic in a consistent manner.

To promote and raise awareness of the initiative, CTSUMN produced this video, which gives an overview of the program.
