On June 23, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released its FY 2011 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), which includes an additional $67 million through its Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grants program. According to the program section of the NOFA, the Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grants program "supports metropolitan and multijurisdictional planning efforts that integrate housing, land use, economic and workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure investments." Groups interested in applying for future grants can be notified of their availability at Grants.gov.

On October 14, 2010, CMAP was awarded a $4.25 million grant through the Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grants program to help implement GO TO 2040 locally by providing staff support for our Local Technical Assistance program. CMAP has already begun working with 64 local governments, nonprofits, and intergovernmental organizations to address local issues at the intersection of transportation, land use, and housing, including the natural environment, economic growth, and community development.
