CMAP Weekly Update, 5-31-2019

The CMAP Local Technical Assistance program is one way the agency is implementing ON TO 2050 and helping communities plan for a more resilient, inclusive, and thriving future. A few ongoing projects have been highlighted in the news recently.

Transport Chicago conference June 14

Presentations that address autonomous vehicles, dockless bike share, suburban mobility, alternatives to gasoline taxes, rebuilding the Jane Addams Tollway, and others are on the agenda at the 34th Annual Transport Chicago conference on Friday, June 14, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza (350 W. Wolf Point Plaza, Chicago). Other sessions and panel discussions will focus on the introduction of electric scooters, the CREATE program, electric fleet buses, and the prospect of bus rapid transit. CMAP staff members Martin Menninger and Lindsay Hollander will be part of panel discussions at the conference. Registration is available online.

Public comment period on local Surface Transportation Program methodologies

Throughout the summer, the local Councils of Mayors and City of Chicago will be seeking public comment on proposed methodologies for selecting local projects to be funded through the Surface Transportation Program. Each council will adopt a methodology that incorporates performance-based programming and regional planning factors by September 30, 2019.

CMAP and the Councils will publicize each opportunity for public comment. Currently the Lake, Kane/Kendall, and Will councils are inviting comments. Details can be found here.
